Toni Pons, the renowned Spanish brand of handmade rope shoes, the famous “alpercatas”, has opened its first high street shop in Portugal in an operation advised by the Savills retail team. Located in the heart of downtown Lisbon, at 143 Rua Áurea, the new space has an area of over 240 square metres, of which 127 square metres are allocated to the commercial area.
With the new shop located in the heart of the Portuguese capital, in an area with excellent accessibility, the Spanish brand is making a concrete commitment to the national market, where it will now have its world-renowned range of handmade, traditionally inspired, Mediterranean footwear available.
Toni Pons began its history in the city of Girona, in the region of Catalonia, Spain, in 1946 and has been growing steadily ever since. The brand currently has 46 points of sale, 29 of which are outside Spain.
Maria Luísa Branco, Retail Associate at Savills, says: “The arrival of Toni Pons in Portugal, and specifically in Lisbon, reflects the brand’s dynamism on an international level. It was a privilege to help the brand find the ideal location to open its first shop in Portugal. This is certainly a brand that adds value to the existing offer in downtown Lisbon due to the quality and attractiveness of its espadrilles full of Mediterranean glamour.”
