Grow old but never grow up, gardens for all ages.
A sense of place and a sense of play; discussing the value of outdoor spaces with self-styled ‘treehousepreneur’ Paul Cameron from Treehouse Life Ltd.
The characteristic of outdoor space is firmly cemented top of buyers’ wish lists.
Whether looking for a family home, holiday home or investment, we know it is an essential and for good reason too. Not only is outdoor space a means of balancing the built and natural environments, but access to outdoor space also helps residents relax, maintain their wellbeing, boost exposure to some vitamin D and what better way to profit from the Riviera climate. For younger members of families, outdoor play is a must for developing skills like coordination, balance, dexterity and of course a sense of joy and adventure whilst in a safe environment. The Cote d’Azur is a magical location for younger audiences to do just that, making the most of long summer days, holidays, and all they have to offer.
Many Riviera homes are accompanied by extensive gardens, with pristine greens and blooming borders, lush vegetation and stunning settings, the Riviera has it all, but have you ever thought about how you interact with such a space? The Savills team sat down with Paul Cameron of the Treehouse Life Ltd to discuss just that and learnt that clever design can add a whole new dimension to the spaces we call home.
For over 20 years Treehouse Life has been creating and delivering magical spaces the world over, and following an increase in demand in the region, has chosen to open an office in Nice, to continue delivering exactly what it does best; adventure, make believe and fun. Having notable clients including Elton John, Gary Barlow and Harry Kane on the books Treehouse Life has achieved success globally and is the UK’s longest serving and most prestigious treehouse design firm.
Paul, first off congratulations are in order, we have learnt that you have been named a finalist in the Great British Entrepreneur awards. It is clear this is a passion project, what was the driver behind the business.
Travelling the world in my former musical career I was lucky enough to see some amazing places, I was always captivated by some of the whimsical treehouses I spotted which constantly drew me back to my childhood. My most rooted memories of childhood come to life when I think of the treehouse my grandfather created for me. I discovered, through imaginative play, to be curious of the world and people around me, I was allowed to pretend. And I wanted to be able to create and deliver that for so many more people. I learnt the tools of the trade and began work, but now with a team of over 20 strong what we can create and build just about anything that can be dreamed up.
Savills works with clients from all over the world, many clients are expecting top design and homes with the wow-factor. Just what can they expect when working with Treehouse life?
True professionalism of course and whilst we always aim to deliver the wow factor, I think the biggest thing are the core values of the business; adventure, make-believe, fantasy and fun and woven into everything we create and throughout the process, this is a joyful experience and one we love to share. We have a signature style of ‘tree-less’ treehouses that are softly suspended, sustainable and child friendly so for all the treehouse and rope bridge projects we deliver we have the knowledge and know how to deliver a product they will impress time and time again whatever the client age range.
So pleased you touched on age range, we have had the pleasure of seeing some of your work but please reassure us the fun isn’t just reserved for the younger member of our families?
A common question and one where we can firmly say all are welcome. The truth is that play-spaces are whole family spaces, somewhere that we can each share no matter the age, gender or level of fitness. A treehouse is a collection of emotions that together is a place where we can all meet, play and let go.
Fantastic! Well with your new office based on the Riviera we cannot wait to see what is in store. But most importantly where can our clients learn more about Treehouse Life, your projects and how to start the process of a dream build.
