Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez

From Saturday, 28th September to Sunday, 6th October 2024

Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez is a prestigious international event that, each year, transforms the town into a true festival of sailing. For an entire week, hundreds of sailboats, ranging from the most historic and classic vessels to the most sophisticated modern yachts, converge in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez for a series of spectacular regattas.

The history of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez:

This event traces its origins back to the Nioulargue and began in 1981 with an impromptu challenge between two sailing enthusiasts. An American couple, owners of a Swan yacht, were in Saint-Tropez following the Swan Cup. During a conversation, the legendary 12-Metre yacht Ikra entered the harbour, and a challenge was issued: “Can you beat Ikra?” The owner of the Swan accepted, and the following day, an informal race took place, concluding in front of the renowned Club 55 beach. This simple challenge laid the foundation for what has now become an unmissable event in the yachting world.
This prestigious gathering, which attracts sailors from across the globe, offers a unique blend of competition and conviviality. Spectators can marvel at these magnificent vessels both from the water and from the lively quays of the port, where a festive atmosphere abounds day and night. It is also an opportunity to savour the splendour of private villas and enjoy the serenity of Saint-Tropez, far removed from the hustle of the peak tourist season.

"The most beautiful regattas on the water and the finest atmosphere on land"

In addition to the racing, Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez showcases the very essence of the Saint-Tropez lifestyle, with evening soirées, cultural events, and moments of camaraderie among sea lovers. It is a celebration of sailing, maritime heritage, and the spirit of Saint-Tropez – an essential occasion for boating enthusiasts and Mediterranean admirers alike.

Walking the quayside offers the opportunity to view some of the world’s most beautiful classic yachts and it is an ideal setting from which to soak up the atmosphere and take in the impressive scale of this event.
