SST Policy

Purpose

To establish a clear framework through which Savills Portugal can effectively manage health and safety risks across its operations.

Statment

Savills Portugal recognises and accepts its legal responsibilities and duties as an employer to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety, and welfare at work of all employees, as well as other individuals such as customers, tenants, contractors, and members of the public who may be affected by its business activities.

All employees have a responsibility to take reasonable care of their own health and safety, as well as that of any other persons who may be affected by their actions or omissions at work. They must co-operate with the Company to help enforce health and safety standards and must not interfere with or misuse anything provided for health, safety, or welfare purposes.

 

The Directors of Savills Portugal recognise and accept their responsibilities for implementing, controlling, and maintaining this Policy across the Company and its operations. They must ensure that health and safety considerations are always prioritised in the planning and day-to-day supervision of work.

 

The Company will, as far as reasonably practicable, ensure that:

  • Adequate resources are made available to ensure that appropriate health and safety provisions can be made;
  • Risks arising from work activities are assessed, appropriate control measures are implemented and appropriate policies and procedures are implemented and maintained;
  • Compliance with legal requirements: the Company will strictly comply with all applicable legislation, regulations and standards relating to occupational health and safety as a non-negotiable commitment for our company. The Company will keep its processes and practices in line with legal standards and obligations;
  • Eliminating hazards and reducing risks: the Company is committed to implementing preventive measures to avoid occupational injuries and illnesses. It will endeavour to identify and eliminate existing hazards and reduce risks in its processes, workplaces and facilities. Prevention is the top priority;
  • Worker Involvement: The Company recognises that its workers are key players in the quest for a safe working environment. Their active participation is encouraged in identifying hazards, assessing risks and suggesting solutions to promote health and safety in the workplace.
  • Continuous improvement: the Company will constantly improve its OSH management system, based on performance evaluations, data analysis, lessons learnt and employee feedback. Continuous improvement is essential to achieving higher levels of safety and health.
  • Safe work systems are provided and maintained;
  • The provisions for the use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances for use at work are safe and without risk to health;
  • All employees receive adequate information, instruction, training and supervision to ensure their safety and health at work and the safety of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions;
  • An adequate level of health and safety information and/or instruction is provided to clients, tenants, contractors and other persons using buildings occupied or managed by the Company;
  • Appropriate programmes for the provision, maintenance and safe operation of all plant, machinery and equipment are implemented and maintained;
  • The working environment of all employees is safe and without risk to their health and that adequate provision is made with regard to facilities and arrangements for their well-being at work;
  • Work-related accidents and poor health and safety performance are regularly monitored and analysed to enable improvements to be made as necessary.

 

Savills is committed to the continuous improvement of its Health and Safety Programme. This Policy Statement and associated documentation will be reviewed at least annually, or when there is a significant change in the company's operations or relevant legislation. Any changes must be communicated to all employees in good time.

Savills will ensure that there are effective procedures for consultation and communication between all levels of management, workers and other interested parties on all matters relating to health, safety and welfare.
