Major mixed-use planning win in the historic city of Stirling

Following a four-year determination process, Savills Scottish planning team has secured planning permission in principle for a major mixed-use redevelopment project on a landmark site just outside the historic city of Stirling.

The team advised long-standing development client, ambassador-group.co.uk/ on the proposals to redevelop the existing commercial site which occupies predominantly brownfield land and is the former headquarters of Prudential Insurance. The proposals will deliver a research & development campus alongside office, residential, retail and leisure accommodation including a new whisky distillery site. The application was supported by a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

Savills Head of Planning in Scotland, Alastair Wood said: “Key elements will see the derelict Category B Listed Craigforth House brought back to life as a 5-star hotel, as well as new active travel routes that will take cognisance of the spectacular Criagforth Crag: this is one of three rock faces that surround the city, the other two accommodating Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument. We are delighted with this positive result for Ambassador which will bring an exciting new chapter in Stirling’s story.
