Despite the well documented financial challenges we’ve all been experiencing, first-time buyers have remained surprisingly resilient in the new homes market.
Our research shows that Savills recent sales to those hoping to get a foot on the property ladder are in line with the average since 2020 – largely because they have been able to adapt to the prevailing conditions.
While some first-time buyers are happy to compromise on the size of the property to ensure a higher specification, or to look at locations which offer greater value for money, others have sought financial support from family or clubbed together to buy.
New build developments are also often more attractive to first-time buyers because of the range of incentives on offer. Savills research shows that almost a third of first-time buyers ranked developer incentives or the Help to Buy scheme in Wales as one of their main reasons for choosing a new build.
