Beautiful blooms and floral festoons will once again be proudly on display for the return of Jersey’s ever-popular Battle of Flowers.
The summer spectacular – which gets underway on Friday (9 August) – promises to be a dazzling carnival of colour, with fantastical floats of all shapes and sizes taking part in a weekend of parades and entertainment.
The Battle began as a celebration to mark Edward VII’s coronation in 1902. In the early years it was the tradition for flowers and petals to be torn from the floats and thrown at people in the crowd in the hope they would throw them back.
The event has since grown to become one of Europe’s largest floral carnivals and a piece of Jersey’s history, regularly attracting over 22,000 spectators and it is always a delight to see so many colourful creations.
To kick-start the celebrations we have selected some of our favourite Jersey homes currently on the market, each with a beautiful garden in bloom.
