Born and raised on one of Norway's beautiful fjords, with childhood holidays spent on the French Riviera, Caroline Liard realised an ambition of living on the beautiful Côte d’Azur when she moved from Norway to the South of France to study international business after high school.
Education, skill, excellent languages and a wealth of connections combined to create the opportunity for Caroline to work in the real estate industry, specialising in assisting Scandinavian clients looking to relocate, invest or find their perfect holiday home. With over ten years of experience Caroline recently joined the Savills French Riviera team, where her positivity and drive is already making a big impact.
What first attracted you to working in property and why the French Riviera?
All my life I have been interested in architecture, interior design and in human nature plus I have always loved the French Riviera. Working in French real estate is a perfect combination of just these interests. Being able to meet so many different types of people, from different cultures, and nationalities and to be able to help them find their dream property, I it is an honour and an important task. A house and a home are so much more than an object, it is full of emotions that I am grateful to take part in.
What area do you work in and what type of property do you handle?
I work mainly in the Cannes, Valbonne and Antibes area handling all types of properties. The French Riviera offers a rich history, beautiful nature, a fantastic food scene plus a completely unique lifestyle that you will not find anywhere else in the world. The international environment also makes it an enriching environment.
What would you outline as the current factors are influencing activity in your sector at present?
One area I really like working in is the Golden Triangle which consists of Biot, Valbonne and Mougins where you find what I believe is luxurious property matching todays requirements. Being able to live in a peaceful setting with a garden, pool and with the sound of bird singing, and at the same time, be just a few minutes away from the festivities in Cannes, Monaco and Saint Tropez. Nothing is more charming than these villages where you meet the authenticity with delicious markets, cafés, picturesque streets and the unique atmosphere.
With everything from luxury villas, countryside homes and chic city penthouses we are spoilt for choice, what is your current favourite property and why?
My favorite property is currently on sale, exclusively with Savills. It is a wonderful property, with one of the Riviera's best addresses in Super Cannes. It has beautiful sea views, a peaceful garden and excellent modern architecture all just 10 minutes from the Croisette in Cannes. A truly prime property on the French Riviera.
Last but not least, can you tell us your favourite thing to do on the French Riviera or what would you suggest to a visitor as an unmissable visit?
This is a difficult question as the Riviera has so much to offer. But if I were to describe my dream day on the Riviera, it would have been to have breakfast in the square in one of the charming little villages on the Riviera with the company of a good book, newspaper or my family.
An afternoon on a sailboat where I can enjoy the view of the coastline, followed by an aperitif at sunset at one of my absolute favorite places on the Riviera, Hotel Eden Roc. From here I would suggest anyone to continue on to dinner at the glorious Colombe d’or in Saint Paul de Vence.
