For a quarter of a century World Book Day – celebrated on March 3 this year – has been encouraging children to set out on the glorious adventure of reading for pleasure. And for anyone unfamiliar with the event, it explains the procession of youngsters who make the annual journey to school dressed as an array of Harry Potters and Matilda Wormwoods, Mad Hatters, pirates and princesses.
The hope is that an early love of literature will develop into a life-long relationship. So in the spirit of the day, here’s a selection of homes ready and waiting for buyers to curl up with a good book. No costume required.
