In the latest installment of our Meet Our Experts series, we chat with Geri O’Brien, Head of Residential for Jersey in the Channel Islands, to discuss what sets her and her team apart, and why she loves living in Jersey.
Geri started her property career in 2008 with an independent agent in Jersey, before moving to Savills Jersey as head of office in 2013. Making the move to Savills gave Geri the opportunity to offer clients a whole new level of personalised services under the reputation of a high-profile brand. “We are a local company, but we’re a global company,” says Geri.
For Geri, it’s important to create a space of trust and openness to build relationships from when working with her clients. One of the unique things about working in the Jersey property market is not only helping find homes for clients, but also guiding them through the relocation process. And moving to Jersey isn’t as hard as it may be perceived to be, according to Geri. As well as finding the dream home for you and your family, Geri can put you in touch with the right people, and also help settle you into Jersey.
This year, Geri and her team have sold over four times more property than they did at this time last year. And these sales have been boosted by those coming from outside of Jersey too. “Every day of the week I deal with people who are looking to relocate,” says Geri. “They can be looking for a traditional family home, an apartment, a new build – we have all of those properties to suit your requirements both on and off market.”
Since the pandemic, interest in Jersey has soared, with 50% more people enquiring about leaving the UK and coming to Jersey to live compared to this time last year. “Jersey has everything,” says Geri. “It has beaches, it has clean air, the quality of life is amazing and it’s great for families – it’s so safe.”
