Why good cycle facilities will attract buyers to London's new developments

As England slowly and cautiously returns to the office, commuters are being urged by the Government to use alternatives to public transport where possible. As such, cycling is coming to the fore, and it seems likely that easy access to cycle routes as well as secure bike storage will become increasingly important for new homes buyers.

I have cycled to work in London on and off for a number of years and always feel the benefit of having 25-30 minutes of exercise in the morning and evening. Top tips if you’re thinking of doing it yourself? Don’t book early meetings on the first day in case you get lost or it takes longer than you think; get some good lights and keep more than one set of clothes at work.

Although cycle lanes can be very busy in the capital during rush hour there are now plans in place to  expand current cycle lanes and even close some roads in central London to increase capacity.

On my commute I pass Bedford House in Balham. It is situated directly on the Cycle Superhighway 7, one of many routes keeping cyclists connected to the city. It is also an example of a scheme with good cycle storage which will benefit its residents in the immediate months and years ahead.

Historically, infrastructure improvements have been a big driver of price increases and as our priorities and routines change. Could good cycle facilities be seen as another consideration when choosing where to invest?

Here is a selection of schemes for avid cyclists.
