Period drama Belgravia recently made a return to our screens for a second series, charting the lives and loves of London aristocracy in the late 1800s.
Having been one of London’s most exclusive districts since the 19th century, Belgravia continues to be viewed as one of the capital’s most desirable places to own real estate. And while much of the architecture has remained, the area and lifestyle on offer here has evolved significantly. So what is life like for those who get to call Belgravia home?
For global high net worth individuals searching for a London property, Belgravia will often be top of the list. Among the area’s attractions is the incredible architecture: grand white stucco-fronted buildings and garden squares such as Eaton, Belgrave, Chester and Wilton Crescent have become golden, globally renowned addresses.
But life in Belgravia offers so much more than bricks and mortar. This is a place to work and socialise which, along with its excellent schools, makes the neighbourhood such a well-rounded place to live. Much of the area forms part of Grosvenor’s London estate with streets like Motcomb, Elizabeth and Pimlico Road lined with luxury fashion stores, upmarket cafés and fine dining. And having opened in recent years, Eccleston Yards has become a destination in its own right; its shops, restaurants, wellness hubs and co-working spaces now firmly woven into the local fabric. What helps to make Belgravia so special is that no matter when or where you visit, you’ll feel the buzz and experience the vibrancy that gives it such a wonderful sense of identity.
Along with the vast array of amenities, there’s a calendar brimming with a wide range of events throughout the year – from Belgravia in Bloom (May) to Wimbledon Screenings (July) – highlighting that this is a part of London where you needn’t travel far to find retail, dining and above all, community.
Despite owning one of the capital’s most historic districts, Grosvenor is firmly focused on the future; with continuous improvements, its intention is to make the area among the greenest, most vibrant and inclusive places in London.
Centuries on from the Belgravia depicted in the drama series, it's clear that some things simply don’t change: this is a London village which many people are proud to call home.
