Big Shed Breakfast

The industrial & logistics team hosted its annual Big Shed Breakfast on Tuesday 23rd November 2021, which took place at the British Museum in London.

On the day more than 100 people from across the sector were in attendance, with a further 300 logging on to live stream the event remotely. A variety of landlords, developers and occupiers were welcomed by Richard Sullivan, national head of industrial & logistics, before Kevin Mofid, head of industrial & logistics research, gave a comprehensive market overview.

Special guest Paul Franklin, head of property at Britishvolt, gave a fascinating talk about the battery manufacturer’s ambitions for its new gigafactory in Blyth, Northumberland. This was followed by a presentation by Mat Oakley, head of UK and European commercial research, who, following his attendance at COP26, relayed how the logistics sector was in a good position to boost its ESG credentials in comparison to the rest of the built environment.

Mat and Paul were then joined by Polly Troughton, managing director of industrial & logistics at St. Modwen, and Stuart Read, chairman of Readie Construction Ltd, for a panel discussion chaired by Kevin. Topics included sustainability, construction material and labour shortages, as well as the future of the sector as an asset class and if and when the bubble might burst.
