The global leader in animal-health technology services will open an over 80,000-square-foot distribution center in Iowa
DES MOINES, Iowa (June 24, 2024) – Savills advised Covetrus on the real estate strategy for its new state-of-the-art distribution center in Grimes, Iowa. The global leader in animal health technology and services will relocate to the Prairie Business Park, located at 400 SE 41st Street in Grimes, Iowa. The company is expanding by 27,000 square feet, bringing its new footprint to 80,000.
Savills Vice Chairman and Head of North America Life Sciences Austin Barrett was tapped to develop a new real estate plan for Covetrus as it needed to expand its distribution capabilities throughout the Midwest.
“Covetrus has experienced growing demand for its services across the Midwest region,” said Barrett. “The company sought to remain in the Des Moines area to retain its current workforce and to recruit new employees for the facility. We negotiated with building owner R&R Realty Group to relocate Covetrus to the Prairie Business Park that is a short distance away from the company’s current location. The enlarged facility will provide Covetrus the opportunity to advance its distribution capabilities and remain in the Des Moines metro area.”
From its new location in Grimes, Covetrus will primarily serve veterinarians and their practices in Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Montana, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, North Dakota, Texas, Wyoming, and Wisconsin. Additionally, the distribution center will maintain a comprehensive selection of products and solutions designed to meet the day-to-day needs of veterinarians and their practices.
