Savills appoint experienced director to Jersey residential sales team

International real estate advisor Savills has strengthened its residential sales team in Jersey with the appointment of experienced director Harry Philpott.

Harry relocated to the island in the summer of last year and has worked in the property sector for 13 years, having initially joined the Savills graduate scheme in London where he qualified as a chartered surveyor.

He was previously part of Savills Global Cross Border Investment team in Hong Kong and more recently led the firm’s Global Residential Development Sales team, providing consultancy, sales and marketing advice on projects across Europe, the Middle East and US.

“Savills has a strong global network and I’m excited to be a part of what is already a very experienced team with a successful track record,” Harry said.

“The Jersey office has had a good start to the year and I’m looking forward to building on that and using my own experiences to help drive further growth and provide the best possible service to our clients.”

Harry, who moved to Jersey with his wife shortly before the birth of their first child so they could be closer to family, will be working alongside head of office Geri O’Brien, senior negotiator Debbie Le Brun and negotiator Victoria Markland.

Commenting on how the island’s property market is performing, he said: “There certainly seems to be a greater degree of confidence among both buyers and sellers.

“We have been extremely busy with property valuations and have some very good instructions in the pipeline.

“Clearly it will take time for improved market conditions to translate into completed sales, but with interest rates appearing to have stabilised and mortgage costs also beginning to come down there is a real sense that momentum is returning to the market.

“When interest rates drop further, we would expect the falling lending and leveraging costs to translate into a wider range of buyers with less pressure on budgets, while we could also see enhanced interest from those wishing to relocate from the UK with a general election on the horizon.”

Head of office Geri O’Brien added: “Harry brings a great deal of experience and expertise and we’re delighted to have him on board. His appointment signals our continued commitment to strengthening our teams and ensuring our offices provide the very best service to our clients.”
