Places for London appoints Savills to key advisory role

Places for London, Transport for London’s (TfL’s) wholly-owned property company, has appointed Savills as their real estate advisory partner.

Savills, who won the instruction following an open and competitive procurement process, will provide advice and support to teams across Places for London, enabling it to get more done, more quickly. Their work will include:

  • Supporting Places for London in strategy-related activity at portfolio, sector, and property levels
  • Bringing real estate and wider world insight and intelligence to inform company direction and decision-making
  • Bringing forward a greater range of real estate opportunities at pace to support Places for London’s wider strategy
  • Sharing in the evolution of the Places for London business with a particular focus on diversity & inclusion, people development and sustainability

Across the capital, Places for London has identified capacity on its land for 20,000 homes, with a programme to start on site on all of these by 2031. It is targeting the delivery of housing, in particular affordable housing, across its developments, all of which will be designed to reflect the needs of the local area.

Not only will Places for London be building new homes, workspaces and retail spaces, enabling the capital to thrive, it will be taking every opportunity to deliver transport improvements. This will be achieved by both generating profit that is returned to TfL and reinvested in the transport network, as well as through local transport improvements that are funded by and delivered alongside property development.

Richard Rees, Savills UK MD, says, ‘We are delighted to have won the mandate to provide strategic advice for Places for London.
‘Our dedicated team of specialists will become fully embedded in Places for London’s business, giving them access to the full range of Savills’ London capabilities.
‘We are committed to working with Places for London to achieve their vision for a greener, more sustainable city.’

Graeme Craig, Director and Chief Executive of Places for London, says:
‘We are delighted to have appointed Savills as our real estate advisory partner. With our shared ambition and values, we are looking forward to working with Savills to bring forward urgently-needed homes, jobs, and social value across the capital. This partnership marks an important step in the evolution of Places for London.’
