Sale of Former Plymouth College Preparatory School site secured

Savills has sold the former site of the Plymouth College Preparatory School to Spaghetti Bridge, a provider of specialist education, for an undisclosed sum.

Spaghetti Bridge provides positive and inspiring environments where students can re-engage with education and Chapel Bridge School will be the organisation’s sixth school.

The sale, which has now completed, concludes a successful marketing campaign by Savills and Monk & Partners to secure a positive future for the historic 4.5 acre site, which is located within The Millfields conservation area in Plymouth.

The property originally formed part of the Royal Navy Hospital, which occupied the estate from 1758 until 1995. Since its closure, the majority of The Millfields has been converted and redeveloped for commercial and residential uses.

The sale includes several notable buildings, including the main school building, known as the Ascot Building and the Grade II listed St Dunstan’s Abbey Chapel. Also included within the sale are the sports hall, two smaller scale, single-storey octagonal buildings, as well as the 1.58 acre playing field.

Commenting on the sale, Nick Jones, head of the development team at Savills Exeter said: ‘We are delighted to announce the completion of the sale of the former Prep School site to Spaghetti Bridge.

‘We received considerable interest in the site for a range of different uses, but Spaghetti Bridge was an obvious fit for the property and the College is delighted that it will remain in educational use for the foreseeable future.’

The property was brought to the market in 2021 as a result of the College’s continued success and its decision to consolidate its operations and expand its provision at Ford Park.
