Private investor acquires The Albus Hotel in Amsterdam

The Albus Hotel located at Vijzelstraat 43-51 in Amsterdam has been acquired by a private investor. It concerns a modern hotel with 72 rooms, 3 studios and bar/restaurant Senses. The hotel is leased to The Albus for a long period. The property was owned by a private investment vehicle.

Exclusive product

The Albus hotel is located in the bustling heart of Amsterdam city centre, within walking distance of Rembrandtplein, Rokin and the Flower Market. It is a highly favoured destination for foreign tourists and day-trippers. The historical buildings, beautiful museums and the typical cosy Amsterdam atmosphere make this old inner-city area a popular entertainment area for all visitors. This transaction is particularly notable as there were no hotel transactions in the past year.

Bas Wilberts, Head of Residential & Hotel Investment at Savills in the Netherlands, explains: "Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the hotel sector has had a difficult time. Nevertheless, Dutch hotel real estate could count on sustained interest from investors. Core investments, including hotels in Amsterdam and other large Dutch cities, can count on undiminished interest from both domestic and foreign investors."

"We are very proud that we were able to assist the seller during this difficult time. Partly due to our international, but mainly local expertise in the field of hotel real estate we were able to provide the client with the best advice and ensure this successful private sale of The Albus took place."

Savills has provided the seller with commercial advice during the transaction. The process was legally guided by Labré Advocaten (seller) and DFLS Legal & Tax and SBvG Notarissen (buyer). The buyer was assisted technically by FiMek Estate and commercially by Invast.
