2023 has been another record year for the Savills auction team with the hammer coming down on over £570m worth of property. Over 1,600 properties have been sold in the sales this year – up 50 per cent on 2022. Raising £100m from two sales, November proved to be the most profitable month ever for the auctioneers.
There have certainly been some headwinds over the last 12 months though the latest record shows that there remains a very healthy appetite for auctions. Perhaps because of the excitement they generate – you never quite know what’s going to happen when a property goes under the hammer.
We’ve brought to market some weird and wonderful properties that you wouldn’t see in a high street agent’s window – from a former military sea fort to the former home of Frankenstein author Mary Shelley. Here are some of the year's highlights:
The next Savills auction will take place on Wednesday 24th January 2024.
