Set in the heart of Cheshire, the town of Wilmslow offers a sought-after blend of natural beauty, rich history and a thriving community. Here we explore its allure and pick out some of the reasons why more and more people are considering Wilmslow as a place to call home.

One factor is undoubtedly its enviable location. Situated only 11 miles south of Manchester, eight miles west of Manchester Airport and under two hours by train from London, it is a haven for commuters. Added to this is the scenic Cheshire countryside that surrounds the town, and the Peak District National Park which lies within striking distance, meaning residents can enjoy the best of both worlds with easy access to urban attractions and tranquil rural landscapes.

Combining small-town charm with the hustle and bustle of a market town, Wilmslow boasts an impressive array of amenities and forms the northern tip of Cheshire’s 'golden triangle' alongside Prestbury and Alderley Edge. The town centre features a vibrant high street with a range of independent shops, stylish boutiques, and popular restaurants and cafés. There are also several supermarkets, leisure centres and sports clubs.

It is this lifestyle that has attracted a diverse mix of professionals, families and celebrities. Part of the appeal is the fact that Wilmslow is also home to several prestigious schools.

Embodying the community spirit and pride in the town is the annual Wilmslow Show, an event that showcases local talent and produce.

A rich historical heritage is reflected in the architecture and cultural offerings, including the beautiful St Bartholomew's Church, a Grade I listed building dating back to the 16th century. The National Trust's Quarry Bank in nearby Styal is one of Britain’s greatest industrial heritage sites, set in 400 acres of beautiful woodland and countryside surrounding the River Bollin.

As more people discover the allure of Wilmslow, the demand for properties in the area continues to rise.

Looking ahead, the prime housing market in Wilmslow will remain robust as the value gap compared to London and the South East and quality of life, alongside the strength and depth of Manchester’s economy, means there’s more capacity for growth.

We expect the market here to outperform the overall prime UK market over the next five years with total price growth across the prime Cheshire market during this period forecast to be just over +13 per cent.
