6 of the best...Scottish properties in celebration of St Andrew’s Day

Along with Hogmanay and Burns Night, St Andrew's Day is a key date in Scotland’s winter festival calendar.

Saint Andrew was chosen as Scotland’s patron saint after the country declared independence in 1320. He has been the heart of Scottish heritage and culture ever since, immortalised on the Saltire (Scotland's national flag) and in the name of the ancient town of St Andrews, said to be his final resting place. The St Andrew's Day Bank Holiday (Scotland) Act 2007 officially designated 30 November as a bank holiday in Scotland, but the country shares their patron saint with a number of others including Greece, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Barbados and Tenerife.

In the spirit of celebrating all things Caledonian, here are some of the best examples of property on the market in Scotland today including a quintessential Scottish castle, a chic apartment in the country’s largest city, and an arts and crafts home near the most famous golf course in the world. The gallery also includes an classic home in the capital’s iconic New Town, a refurbished Georgian country mansion, a contemporary work of art in Aberdeen – currently the most expensive property on the market in Scotland.
