The ability to view property remotely via technology is a tool many residential developers embraced some time ago. Long before lockdown it allowed potential buyers to see a development’s range of facilities and amenities as well as visualise themselves living in their new home, months or even years before completion. And now, in this time of social distancing, it has certainly come into its own.
Development collateral and virtual tours using platforms such as First Viewings and Photoplan can be shared so the viewer and agent interact, the agent ‘walking’ you through the apartments or gardens, answering your questions as you go round, allowing you to pause to look at the view or check out the kitchen. It’s a compelling proposition and in recent weeks we have seen reservations made on the strength of virtual tours alone.
Over the last few years the technology has been improving exponentially and one unintended consequence of the current coronavirus restrictions is the normalisation of using these tools in our day-to-day life. It will have an impact on the way we do business long after the crisis has ended.
