Take the #JarFromAfar challenge and have a look inside Harperrig House

Selling a home can be an emotional wrench, particularly when you have spent 24 happy years there, making friends, bringing up a family and enjoying the glorious countryside that surrounds it.

So John and Lucy Strachan's decision to downsize from Harperrig House, their charming traditional farmhouse in the heart of Scotland’s Pentland Hills Regional Park, was not an easy one.

Harperrig House is an outstanding family home in a beautiful rural location, around 15 miles from Edinburgh city centre. A double height extension, built by the Strachans, makes the most of the superb views across Harperrig Reservoir.

Lucy was feeling tearful about their impending move when Savills photographer Sean Begley arrived to take photographs for the brochure. Over a cup of coffee Sean and Lucy discovered they had something in common: a love of Marmite. Lucy has an extensive collection of Marmite pots in all shapes, sizes and designs, acquired over the years. On the couple’s 25th wedding anniversary, John even gave his wife an engraved silver Marmite top.

To cheer Lucy up Sean hid a pot of Marmite in each of the interior photographs, challenging her to find them. Says Lucy: ‘Sean turned something which could have been really awful into a fun afternoon. I think the brochure looks great, and seeing the tiny pots hidden in various nooks and crannies makes me smile.’

Take the challenge

Are you ready to take the #JarFromAfar challenge? It’s harder than it sounds with some of the pots extremely well concealed. Click through the slideshow of images below and see how many you can spot (we recommend clicking the fullscreen button in the top right of the image). To save your sanity, we've also given the answers, and because the jars are so small, we advise viewing on a desktop device rather than a mobile.
