In 1911 master builder and visionary W G Tarrant bought 964 acres of land near Weybridge from the 4th Earl of Ellesmere’s family with the idea of turning it into an exclusive residential development. But Tarrant wasn’t the first to spot the area’s potential as an enclave of privacy and security: there is evidence of an iron age hill fort on this very spot.

Using a team of around 100 men, Tarrant set about building houses of extraordinarily high spec and though few of those early Arts and Crafts houses survive today, properties here remain at the forefront of the world’s ultra-prime real estate.

St George’s Hill offers a combination of security and convenience that sets it apart. The estate is accessed by a private, gated road which is controlled during the day by the estate's security personnel and is restricted at all times. And while the estate’s golf course, tennis club and spa ensure a social scene that is both lively and sophisticated, an active residents’ association works to preserve the privacy and tranquillity of the estate.
