This month's Chelsea Flower Show might inspire visitors to buy a few new plants, but how many will go home and radically rethink their outdoor space? When it comes to gardens, most of us are quite content with what we've got.

It's only when we move that we might have to adjust our idea of what a garden should be. Who would have thought, for example, that a windmill on the lawn would work quite so well? Or that two Giant Redwoods would look right at home in Berkshire?
