The UK's 'super builds' are ever evolving in response to rising demand for luxury. Increasingly discerning, the super rich who buy these properties are looking for the style of a five-star hotel, combined with the feel of a family home.
The following features are all currently on the shopping list:
- Gym and spa facilities – not just a treadmill and swimming pool, but ‘commercial quality’ gym and a full spa set-up, complete with sauna, hot tub and treatment room.
- Designer kitchen - including utility room and prep area or secondary kitchen.
- Huge master suite with 'his' and 'hers' dressing rooms and bathrooms.
- Beautiful landscaped gardens.
- Touch button technology – every function controlled from an iPhone, from opening doors and closing curtains to turning on fires and watching CCTV monitors.
- Volume – an impressive double-height reception hall with sweeping staircase creating a first-class sense of arrival, and large principal reception rooms.
- Entertainment - party space, a bar and home cinema.
- Designer labels – In North Surrey, for example, buyers are looking for properties by Royalton, Heritage, Consero, Octagon, Aspire or Stonehaven. New houses must also be fully furnished by specialist, preferably well-known, high-end interior designers.
- Privacy and security – this means a state-of-the-art security system.
- Toys – to include tennis court, wine cellar, extensive garaging (often underground with ramp or car lift), and possibly a bowling alley.
- If a property has more land, then a buyer might expect helipad, separate staff/ guest cottages, stabling, paddocks, polo facilities, shooting and fishing.
