Climate

Savills is focused on climate-related risks and working together with its clients, suppliers and the local communities to deliver a more sustainable future.

Savills plc maintains focus on delivering its commitment to achieving net zero for its operations (Scope 1 and 2) in 2030 and for its value chain (Scope 3) greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2040.

Separately Savills has worked with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to validate near-term decarbonisation targets with as part of this, Savills being recognised by the Race to Zero and Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaigns. Savills near-term SBTi targets are:

Savills plc commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 72% by 2030 from a 2019 base year.

Savills plc also commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services 51.6% per million GBP of value added by 2030 from a 2022 base year.

Savills plc further commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from investments 51.6% per square meter within the same timeframe.

The UN set out Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for businesses around the world. We have aligned with 9 of the 17 UN SDGs that are the most relevant to our business, three of which come under our climate approach:

  • Affordable & Clean Energy - we aim to maximise energy efficiency, minimise carbon emissions and work continuously towards net zero carbon targets globally.
  • Climate Action - work continuously to reduce carbon emissions and report in accordance with our Task Force for Climate Related Disclosure obligations.
  • Responsible Consumption and Production - we seek to reduce our environmental impacts through active operational management and responsible procurement.

Our hard work is already paying off. During 2023, we had the following climate highlights:

  • Scope 1 and 2 ‘market-based’ Greenhouse Gas emissions had a 26.9% reduction against our 2019 base year.
  • We have a near-term 1.5°C-aligned carbon reduction target, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
  • The review of our supply chains commenced, targeting reduced Scope 3 emissions.
  • We aligned or signed up to Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Financial Times Stock Exchange for Good (ftse4good) Index and Race To Zero Campaign.

All of this was incredible to see, but we are determined to continue driving positive changes on our path to a resilient, sustainable transition.
