Webinar: Scottish Property Outlook 2020

On Wednesday 23 September 2020, exactly six months since the UK went into lockdown, our Savills Scottish team held a webinar to discuss the residential, rural and commercial property markets across Scotland.

Nick Penny, our Head of Scotland chaired the session and was joined by two speakers: Faisal Choudhry, Head of Residential Research in Scotland and Steven Lang, Director in Commercial Research. Faisal touched on the residential market performance, and the changing buyer needs (with particular focus on the importance of garden space and countryside locations) as well as providing a longer term outlook on prices. Steven provided insight into investment volumes and compared commercial values from the Great Financial Crash to Covid-19. Steven then continued to shed light on the new trends across the office market particularly focusing on people’s attitudes to working at home.

We were then joined by our panellists who all participated in a live Q&A session, where Cameron Ewer (Head of Residential, Scotland), Evelyn Channing (Head of Farms & Estates, Scotland), David Cobban (Head of Glasgow Office and Director in Office Space), Carole Mackie (Head of New Homes, Scotland), Bruce Patrick (Head of Mixed Use Development, Scotland) and John Menzies (Director in Retail, Glasgow) were asked questions on their markets and focused on the longer term outlook of their sectors following Covid-19.
