Savills Jersey sponsors 33rd Channel Islands Hobie Cat Championships

Savills Jersey is once again sponsoring the Channel Islands Hobie Cat Championships which are taking place in St Aubin’s Bay at the end of June.

The event is hosted by the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club (RCIYC) and around 30 boats are expected to take to the water for a full weekend of competitive racing.

All classes will be represented – from junior crews racing dragoons, through to youth and adult teams on Hobie 16s including the 18ft Hobie Wildcats and Tigers.

There will be six qualifying races over the weekend of 29 and 30 June, with racing starting at 10am on Saturday and 11am on Sunday.

Jeremy Swetenham, commodore of the RCIYC, said: “The Hobie Cat Championships is a pinnacle event in the club’s busy racing calendar and we are delighted once again to be partnering with Savills.

“As always it promises to be a wonderful fast and colourful spectacle and will provide a great opportunity for our junior, youth and adult teams who are training for the Hobie Multi Europeans being held at Lake Garda in Italy in July.”

Geri O’Brien, head of office at Savills Jersey, which is sponsoring the championships for the sixth year running, added: “Sailing is a favourite pastime of many islanders and we are delighted to once again offer our support for this wonderful event.

“The hobies are always an impressive sight out on the water, bringing together people of all ages for an exciting weekend of competition.

“Huge credit must go to the RCIYC for staging such a fabulous two days. We look forward to welcoming as many people as possible – and keeping our fingers crossed for some great racing conditions.”

Entries for the 33rd Channel Islands Hobie Cat Championships are now open. For details contact RCIYC here.
