Impressive turnout at Devon County Show’s President’s Reception

Up to 100,000 visitors are thought to have attended the Devon County Show near Exeter, earlier this month.

The event, which is in its 128th year, is one of the biggest of its kind in the West Country, and a showcase for the rural community.

Savills maintained its longstanding support for the Show by jointly hosting a drinks reception on behalf of the Devon Country Agricultural Association President, Michael Caines.

The Reception, which took place on the evening of Thursday 16 May, was co-sponsored by Savills, the private and commercial bank, Arbuthnot Latham and UK law firm, Ashfords. Around 250 guests attended, enjoying a wonderful evening of networking over drinks and canapes.

Mike Townsend, Director, Savills Exeter, commented: ‘This year’s Reception attracted its biggest ever turnout and was a really positive occasion. The Devon County Show is a wonderful celebration of farming and agriculture in Devon and we appreciate the opportunity to show our support, not only for those with whom we do business, but the wider community.’

Rob Salisbury, Director and Head of Exeter Office at Arbuthnot Latham commented: ‘The Devon County Show is one of the highlights of the year for our team and we are delighted to continue our support for this key event for the South West community and in particular the show Reception.’

Michael Alden, partner and head of private Wealth Division at Ashfords, said: ‘It was a pleasure to host the reception with Savills and Arbuthnot Latham, which as it does each year, turned out to be a fantastic evening. As a firm, it’s important for us to come together with the local community, to show our support and celebrate farming and agriculture in the county.’
