A pick of the best unlisted homes

Many of the nation’s oldest buildings are listed and thus legally protected to reflect their special architectural or historical qualities. 

But beyond the 500,000 buildings that exist on the National Heritage List for England, there are many more besides that aren’t – even though they too could be period homes or designed by an influential architect of the day.

These unlisted buildings may not sit on a dedicated roster, but arguably are just as celebrated by those who live there.
