The rental industry, whether seasonal or long term, has adapted to the latest demands of the international high-end clientele. Those who are used to staying in luxury hotels have changed their vision of vacations with friends or family. "They are now looking for an experience rather than a stay," says Alex Balkin, executive director of Savills French Riviera. "These affluent guests frequent Michelin-starred restaurants year-round, so it takes more to thrill them on their vacation. The same goes for spas, pools or fitness centers.

Renting a prestigious villa allows them to be alone with their guests in the environment they have chosen, unlike a hotel which remains a collective space, however luxurious it may be." The idea is to have all the services of a luxury hotel in a particular residence, provided that it is located in the best location of the destination in question. This notion can be appreciated in a small radius, as the needs are not the same in Saint-Tropez or in Cap d'Antibes ! 

Another key point, according to Alex Balkin, is the tailor-made aspect of the service offer: clients must be able to choose what they want on a daily basis, from amongst an almost infinite range of services, including a butler, a cook, a fitness trainer, a chef capable of transforming their villa into a three-star restaurant, a concierge available 24 hours a day, a baby-sitter, a security team, etc. "When they want to, they can leave their villa to go to a trendy hotel bar, a gourmet restaurant or a luxury spa, however the reverse is also true, recreating the same choice and experiences within the comfort of a luxurious, discreet home environment."
