Nathalie Charat Real Estate Agent Savills

Provide a little background (where are you from, the languages you speak etc) and include how long you have worked in property and where you work now.

Bilingual Riviera resident Nathalie Charat has been a real estate agent for over 12 years, amassing a wealth of experience in property across the Côte d’Azur. With a background including extensive travel Nathalie has a thorough understanding of working with clients from all over the world and loves to help people make their property dreams a reality by accompanying them through a very important decision process.

What first attracted you to working in property and why the French Riviera?

I love the interaction /contact with people and being part of their life during one of the most important times in their life – to help them with one of their biggest, most important, projects. It’s very rewarding to assist them in this way. I deal with both families looking for their next home but also secondary homes. More and more people have decided to come and live permanently in the south of France, because of the impact of the pandemic.

What area do you work in and what type of property do you handle?

Mostly, I deal with villas and some apartments on the west part of the French Riviera from Cannes to Vence. I’m from this area so I can use my local knowledge / expertise.

What would you outline as the current factors are influencing activity in your sector at present?

Covid has had a big impact on the market, especially on villas and properties which have not previously been premium/desired properties. For instance villas with a big piece of land but not close to the sea. People are looking for more space. It used to be hard to sell those properties, because they weren’t deemed to be in the “right location”. We are seeing an inflow of clients from the major capitals, the Riviera has a lot to offer both work, culturally and family wise.

With everything from luxury villas, countryside homes and chic city penthouses we are spoilt for choice, what is your current favourite property and why?

Every property is unique (I don’t have favourites!) and its story is unique.

With everything from luxury villas, countryside homes and chic city penthouses on offer across the Riviera, what trends do you expect to see in 2022?

Change – house prices increased by more than 15% last year (compared to 2020). That had not happened for 10 years. Now, more than ever I strongly suggest for anyone interested in buying, they should work closely with their agent to really discuss the needs and criteria.

Last but not least, can you tell us your favourite thing to do on the French Riviera or what would you suggest to a visitor as an unmissable visit?

We have both sea and mountains. You can ski in the morning and go sailing in the afternoon. We also have excellent golf courses with a perfect climate all year round. And not to mention that we have the best restaurants in the world! It’s impossible to give just one “thing” - We have so many events – the festival de Cannes – the boat show – Monte Carlo racing… “We have everything but modesty”.
