Real Estate Insights Podcast: Forestry - capturing the move towards sustainability

The UK government’s pledge for net zero carbon emissions has increased the focus on the forestry sector and is likely to drive the shift towards increased demand for tree planting and more sustainable timber-based construction methods.

There was clear evidence of a new type of buyer in the market which during the 2019 forest year included the sale of 14,400 hectares of commercial forestry and woodland generating an average net productive hectare increase of 25%. Guy Ruddle joins James Adamson, head of forestry investment for Savills, and Evelyn Channing, head of farms and estates in Scotland, to discuss the recent performance of the asset class, the desire for portfolio diversification and the environmental benefits of forestry.
