The property market
There is a big appetite for homes in Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo. Visitor numbers are up and so is demand for properties. There is little stock on the market – the least we have seen for over 15 years – and this is pushing prices up.
A change we have observed over the past 18 months is that the majority of our vendors who might have taken their money and left Portugal have instead reinvested in the area, either downsizing or upsizing depending on their family requirements. This is naturally adding to the demand and decreasing the supply.
83 per cent of our buyers are British and we are seeing more interest from France and Scandinavia. Our typical buyer is a family looking to use its property as a holiday home. Most owners do this for up to six weeks a year with some renting out their property when not in use.
Resort overview
One of the secrets of the area’s success is the fact that it keeps on reinventing itself. Resort developers have consistently reinvested in the infrastructure and facilities, keeping both Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo fresh. One such example is The Campus at Quinta do Lago. It’s a state-of the-art multi-sports complex with a stadium quality football pitch, two clay tennis courts, a 25m swimming pool, four padel courts, a gym and a fantastic café and restaurant.
Insider’s Tip
Every Saturday morning there is a local market in Loule with a huge variety of fresh, local produce including vegetables, meat, cheese and fish. It's a lovely place to people watch with a traditional bica (coffee) and a warm Pastel de nata, an unmissable Portuguese speciality.
