Shillingford Court is an imposing country house built in 1898 on the banks of the River Thames. The house was commissioned by Frederick William Mortimer, tailor to the Prince of Wales, later to become Edward VII. Mortimer was a close friend of the Prince and it is understood he stayed at the house with various paramours including Lillie Langtry.
