Chasing a piece of cheese down a steep hill might sound like madness, but it's been the tradition of the Gloucestershire village of Brockworth for centuries.

For reasons lost in the mists of time, locals gather at the top of Cooper's Hill every late May bank holiday, then attempt to beat an 8lb Double Gloucester cheese to the bottom of the 90-metre hill.

Health and safety concerns led to the 'official' event being cancelled back in 2010, but that hasn't stopped cheese-rollers risking life and limb for this age-old tradition.
