Savills Earth’s Energy, Infrastructure, and Renewables team has acted on behalf of Island Green Power to secure land for the solar elements of the West Burton Solar Project (480 MW) and the Cottam Solar Project (600 MW).
The West Burton project, with a capacity of 480 MW, is expected to generate enough energy to power approximately 144,000 homes, replacing around 24% of the capacity of the coal-powered West Burton Power Station. As a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project, it has been undergoing six-stage examination process by the planning inspectorate for the past three years. It has now been granted development consent by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.
