Savills launches 'Wave Campus' in Lisbon, Portugal

International real estate advisor, Savills, will be responsible for marketing the project, Wave Campus, a student residence near NOVA University’s Faculty of Science and Technology Lisbon (FCT Campus), which will be home to around 330 students.

Both “Wave Campus” and NOVA University are part of a new innovation district in Almada, to the south of Lisbon’s city centre, supported by the City Council.

Upon completion in 2023, the student residence will have 331 fully equipped single rooms, supporting the growing student population of Almada, comprising over 10,000 students. Students will benefit from state-of-the-art amenities as well as proximity to FCT Campus, Lisbon city centre and Costa de Caparica beaches.

Located less than 300 metres from Nova University’s FCT Campus Lisbon, Wave Campus will be developed under a 'touristic’ license, operational during both the academic term and summer months, taking advantage of its proximity to the beaches at Costa da Caparica.

Horacio Blum, Operational Capital Markets, Savills Portugal, commented: “This is a significant development for the municipality of Almada, in a strategic location. We are confident that, as a mainstay of the innovation district, the scheme will become a hub for the student community.”

Marcus Roberts, Operational Capital Markets, Europe at Savills, said: “There has been growing interest in Portugal from a student accommodation and ‘living’ perspective with increasing investor appetite for areas in and around Lisbon in particular. We anticipate this trend to continue with an increasing amount of pent up demand for occupiers and investors as Covid-19-related travel restrictions begin to ease.”
