Top ski destinations and the pulling power of the piste

Alpine resorts, celebrated for their thrilling adventures, luxurious amenities, and breathtaking landscapes, have become top destinations not only for travellers but also for property investors.

With the global ski industry recording over 370 million skier days in 2022/23, it’s no surprise that demand is driving the real estate market in top ski destinations.

Aspen, famous for its four unique ski areas, continues to retain the top spot in the Savills Prime Price League, with asking prices nearing €40,000 per square metre. Close behind is Courchevel 1850, France’s first purpose-built ski resort, followed by Val d’Isère, ranked as one of the most desirable ski destinations.

For those seeking value, Norway’s ski resorts provide a great alternative to the Alps. Though perhaps less well known, they offer much more reliable snow conditions throughout the season.

No après-ski evening would be complete without a beverage to satisfy the thirst worked up from spending a day on the slopes. Classics such as Aperol spritz and hot chocolate are staples across resorts, though prices vary. In Switzerland’s prime resorts, such as St. Moritz, a spritz costs €18.85, and hot chocolate €6.66. Meanwhile, French resorts present slightly more affordable options, and Austria’s Kitzbühel stands out for its value, with an Aperol spritz priced at €6.50 and hot chocolate at just €4.20.

As the ski season approaches, we’ve created a selection of some of the most exceptional ski chalets currently on the market.
