Six of the best...homes along the Boat Race route

For nearly 200 years the Boat Race has been a key sporting fixture in the calendar, drawing crowds from far and wide to watch crews from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge race the four mile course between Putney Bridge and Mortlake.

Starting from the University Boat Race Stone set into the towpath on Putney Embankment, the boats make their way past a number of landmarks including Craven Cottage (home to Fulham Football Club), Hammersmith Bridge, Chiswick Eyot and Barnes Bridge before reaching another stone adjacent to The Ship pub in Mortlake which marks the finish line. With Cambridge having won both the Men’s and Women’s events last year, spectators across the globe will be tuning in to see if they’ll retain their trophies again this year.

In addition to hosting the boat race, the stretch of river is also home to some of London’s most desirable properties. Here’s our pick of the best properties along the route of the championship course which offer a bird’s eye view of this world famous event.
